We speak English, French, Korean, Chinese and Jonathan has been practicing his British accent by watching Hugh Grant movies.

 

 

Jonathan

Jonathan was born in South Korea and later moved to the farmlands of Nebraska. His grandparents grew corn where he spent most of his childhood riding tractors and watching Husker Football games. 

He studied Economics & was an analyst for U.S. Bancorp Piper Jaffray, before moving into an Enterprise Software Consulting role for a private start-up (The Active Network) that would later go public and be acquired for $1.05 Billion. He moved on to Landmark Ventures, an NYC-based Venture Consulting Firm – managing a portfolio of software and technology start-ups. His last corporate gig was a VP of Business Development, for a start-up being incubated by The Omnicom Group. Jonathan founded AEG in 2014. 

Interesting Fact:  Jonathan was a semi-competitive distance runner with Personal Records (PR) of 4:09 for the 1,600M & 15:23 for the 5,000M.

 

Hanna

Hanna was born in South Korea and later moved to the Pacific Northwest. Her parents owned retail stores and like most Asian kids, spent most of her childhood translating for her non-English speaking parents and preparing their taxes. 

With a Masters in Integrated Marketing Communications, Hanna implements research and consumer psychology in creating the most simple and effective brands. Her experience as a copywriter for LG and rebrand strategist for Samsung allows Hanna to bring proven mainstream practices into the cannabis industry.

Interesting Fact:  Hanna was the only Asian baby born on the U.S. Military Base in South Korea at the time because her Korean father received U.S. citizenship and enlisted in the U.S. Army.

 

Frank

Packaging Expert & CFO

Frank is originally from Chengdu, home to the famous Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, a conservation center where visitors can view endangered giant pandas in a natural habitat.

Frank has been designing and sourcing packaging for the past eight years. Previously, he worked for a major Chinese company that designed and made the official Chinese currency. This experience required him to develop a fine eye for detail and working with unique materials.

Interesting Fact: Frank is an amateur Ping Pong player (It really doesn’t get any more stereotypical than that). He took 2nd place in a local competition in Shenzhen with more than 2000 total participants. He always says sports are good for health and psychology – improving concentration skills.

Mia

Creative Designer

Mia graduated from a famous Academy of Fine Arts in China. She has been working on creative design for 10 years, which gives her an abundance of experience on design, printing, materials and technology. When working for the Official Chinese Currency Industry, she won several awards for her designs.

Mia holds a Certificate of Chinese Craft Artists and is a member of the Shenzhen Design Association.

Interesting Fact: Mia enjoys handcrafts in her spare time. Five years ago, she spent three months using glass and paints to make Van Gogh’s Starry Night. It is 1.5M x .8M in size and is currently on display at the Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts. 

Marilyn

Sourcing Specialist

Marilyn was born in Liuzhou Guangxi, the city famous for Luosifen, a popular Chinese Noodle. The dish consists of rice noodles boiled and served in a soup made from a stock made from river snails and pork bones which are stewed for hours

Marilyn attended a Project 211 Institution, where she studied engineering and was one of only four female students in her Mechanical Design Manufacturing and Automation Major.

211 Project Schools were designed to enhance research standards at high-level universities and to cultivate strategies for socio-economic development. Only 6% of Chinese Universities hold this distinction and are responsible for training four-fifths of all doctoral students in China.

Marilyn has been working as a sourcing engineer since 2012.

Interesting Fact: Marilyn competed in nunchucks as a sport and for commercial performances, which means she is our resident “Ninja.”
